National Dog Day Beth Snyder August 26, 2011 Normally, I try to use holidays that are not so much country-specific, because while I happen to be in the US everyone is not. However, the fact that today is National Dog Day coupled with the picture I’m sure many of you have seen of the dog lying under the coffin of one of the US Navy Seals recently lost in Afghanistan, and it just seemed appropriate. I’m not going to get political because I truly make my best effort to avoid that here, but this one hits pretty close to home for me. Today, make an extra effort to give a belly rub, or a treat, or an extra-long play session, or a long walk…do something to show the dog(s) in your life you appreciate them.
