Must Have: USB Power Strip Beth Snyder April 30, 2012 As far as I’m concerned, one of the most brilliant inventions in recent memory is the concept of the USB charging cord with an Edison plug adapter on it. Seriously. I cannot even begin to tell you how many times having the option of either method for charging my phone has saved my butt, especially when I’m at work. In fact, right now as I type, I’ve got my phone plugged into the USB port on my laptop, while a co-worker is using my adapter to charge her phone in the wall. But…with the advent of USB charging comes a few drawbacks. Namely, not having enough outlets available, be they USB or Edison. How about a USB power strip? This will let you charge your gadgets while still leaving your USB ports open for other tasks. And it takes up less room than a regular power strip. It has an on-off switch, and each of the four ports has a different coloured cap to keep dust and whatnot out of the port when not in use. The best part is you can charge four phones (or whatever) at once using a single wall outlet. Think that might make you popular at the airport? You bet! You might even be able to charge a small fee to fellow travelers! Well, at least until someone finds out…I’m pretty sure that’s probably against some rule or another. This strip measures just 1.1″ x 4.4″ x 0.75″ and features a three-foot cord. Which means it’s easy to carry with you pretty much wherever you might go. Don’t be confused; this is not a hub, so don’t expect to be able to transfer data from your phone to anything else while using it. But since smartphones tend to go through batteries faster than a tornado can wipe out a trailer park, you’re going to be charging it about eight times more often than you’ll be doing a data transfer. At just $9.99 US, this is one of those things you simply should not pass by. Source: Craziest Gadgets Share This With The World!
