MEGATech Biz: Google Buys 217 More Patents From IBM Michael Kwan January 3, 2012 Here we go again! We all know that everyone is suing everyone these days and it has to do with so-called intellectual property. Google is actively bolstering its arsenal, having already acquired Motorola Mobility, but it looks like that’s not enough. It has just been revealed by the United States Patent and Trademark Office that Google has gone ahead and acquired 217 patents from IBM. This is above and beyond the over 2,000 other patents that Google bought from IBM last year. Of the 217 patents in question, 188 are granted patents and the remaining 29 are published patent pending applications. What’s interesting is that Google isn’t focusing on just one area with this newest purchase. The patents are far-reaching, going from blade servers and data caching to video conferencing and email administration. I guess you need a wide range of artillery to keep up the battle with Cupertino. Source: SEO by the Sea Share This With The World!
