Less Satire, More Emotion in First Trailer for RoboCop Remake Dylan Duarte September 6, 2013 Feast your eyes on the new Alex Murphy in this first trailer for the 2014 RoboCop remake. I’m very happy to report that the suit looks much better in action than it did in that leaked set photo that made the rounds a while back. It still might not be to some people’s tastes, but at least it doesn’t look like bad cosplay. Stepping into Peter Weller’s shoes is Swedish actor Joel Kinnaman, who’s best known to American audiences as Detective Eric Holder in AMC’s The Killing. The film also stars acting heavyweights Gary Oldman, Michael Keaton, and Samuel L. Jackson, as well as funny man Jay Baruchel, perpetual bad guy Miguel Ferrer, and Rorschach himself, Jackie Earle Haley. RoboCop is scheduled to hit theaters on February 7, 2014. Unlike a big portion of the Internet, I actually liked what I saw. There are a few major changes. Alex Murphy seems to be much more human this time around and the remake seems to have dropped any semblance of the satire found in the original, but it otherwise looks like it could provide some solid sci-fi action. Plus I really like Joel Kinnaman and it’s great to see Michael Keaton back in action. Share This With The World!
