America has been obsessed with fitness for some time now. You can see its effect on a lot of industries, and in the tech industry particular, where fitness trackers are a dime a dozen. Jawbone has felt the sting of that competition, and are now bowing out of the race altogether.

The company has reportedly ceased production of its Up line of fitness trackers and sold off what remains of its inventory to a third-party distributor. On top of that, another report claims that Jawbone also wants to sell off its speaker business. Unlike its fitness band business, Jawbone did well with the Jambox, though its been over a year since they’ve produced anything new.

The last we heard, Jawbone wanted to develop a “clinical-grade” fitness tracker, though now it appears that they may be out of the game altogether. They can still try to mount a comeback, maybe come at things from a different angle, but the company had no comment on their recent actions and this could very well be the end.
