Remember the 2DS? It’s like the 3DS, but one less. I really don’t mean for any of this to rhyme. If you’ve always had your eye on the 2DS XL, but haven’t pulled the trigger yet, this may sway you in that direction. On July 2nd, Gamestop is getting an exclusive Hylian Shield Edition 2DS XL.

The mobile console comes preloaded with The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds, the 2013 sequel to the 1991/1992 (Japan/North America) critical darling The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. A Link Between Worlds was a huge critical success, earning a 91 out of 100 on Metacritic.

For those unfamiliar with the 2DS, it’s basically a 3DS minus the 3D effect (which was divisive, anyway). the original 2DS didn’t have the clamshell design, meaning you couldn’t fold it close, but that feature is back for the XL model. And the XL just means it’s bigger than a standard 2DS. All 3DS games work on the 2DS, albeit without the 3D effect, so don’t worry about not having a giant library at your disposal.

The Hylian Shield Edition 2DS XL will run you $159 when it becomes available in a month’s time, which seems to be the standard price for Nintendo’s limited edition handheld consoles. If you head over to Amazon, you can find a 3DS XL for around the same price, so if you don’t care about Zelda, that might be the way to go.
