Huawei Nova 2S Is Almost All-Screen, Dual Front Cameras Michael Kwan December 6, 2017 News If we could narrow down the entirety of the smartphone industry in 2017, we could probably sum it up with two key trends. First, everyone is trying to offer the highest possible screen-to-body ratio possible, shrinking down those bezels as much as they possibly can. Second, everyone is using two cameras instead of one, although different companies are approaching this for different functions. Capitalizing on both trends is the Huawei Nova 2S. Everyone’s favorite mobile leaker Evan Blass tweeted out a couple pictures of the Huawei Nova 2S early this morning. I almost want to say that the basic design is vaguely reminiscent of what LG has been doing lately, but realistically, a lot of companies have been taking a very similar approach as of late. The initial image shows the Huawei Nova 2S in this light “tiffany blue” color, but Blass quickly followed that up with the color lineup that see above, including red, black, grey (silver?) and pink versions. I’ve also heard that they plan on releasing a white version as well. Based on the images alone, we can see that Huawei worked hard to produce a near bezel-free smartphone, both in terms of the sides and the top and bottom. The sides don’t do the fancy trick of curving over the edge like they do in the Galaxy S8 and S8+, but they appear to be skinnier than what you find on the Google Pixel 2 XL and iPhone X. You will also notice that Huawei opted for a pill-shaped home button on the chin, which doubles as the fingerprint reader, rather than placing the fingerprint reader on the back. And while so many other companies are doing the dual camera thing on the back (the Huawei Nova 2S does that too), this phone also has dual cameras on the front. That’s got to be for better selfies, I imagine. As we make our way through the apparent the spec sheet we find that the dual front cameras are 20MP and 2MP, whereas the ones on the back are 20MP and 16MP with a dual LED flash. The 6-inch full HD display has the elongated aspect ratio of 18:9 (2:1, 2160 x 1080 pixels). Other highlights include the Kirin 960 processor, 6GB of RAM, 64GB to 256GB of storage, and Android 8.0 Oreo. We’re expecting the Huawei Nova 2S will start at just under $400 for the 64GB/4GB RAM model and go up from there. The launch is being planned for Beijing tomorrow, so I’m sure we’ll learn more at that time. Share This With The World!
