Heineken – From Athens to Epic UEFA Win! Michael Kwan May 29, 2013 Here in North America, football is the game played by guys like Peyton Manning and Tom Brady involving field goals and touchdowns. However, in just about everywhere else in the world, football is the "beautiful game" with corner kicks and stoppage time. And if you thought NFL fans were rowdy, you've never been to a UEFA Champions League match, let alone a UEFA Champions League final. You might remember last week when we highlighted a fun video from Heineken called Road to the Final where a fictional fellow has to make a mad dash to Wembley Stadium in London so he can get there in time to catch the epic match between Borussia Dortmund and Bayern München. The UEFA Champions League final match was played over the weekend with Arjen Robben scoring the game-winning goal at the 89th minute, giving the epic victory to Beyern. But before that happened, Heineken followed up with another fun video for us to watch where three big soccer fans from Athens are told that they have just one hour to pack and get to the airport. The first person to arrive gets the free ticket to the UEFA final. One thing that I did notice in the video, and maybe it's just the geek in me, is that none of the contestants made particularly good use of gadgetry and technology to win the ticket. For instance, there's one guy trying to catch the airport bus, only to learn that it doesn't leave for another 20 minutes. If he whipped out his smartphone to check the schedule, he would have known that already. Maybe when you're in that much of a rush, you forget such conveniences. If you were suddenly selected for such a contest and had only one hour to get to the airport on a moment's notice, how would you get there? How would you leverage technology to your advantage?
