YouTube has added a “breaking news” section to their website and mobile app, which makes sense considering how many people likely already flock there for their news. For myself, it’s sandwiched between a couple channels that I subscribe to, which is an odd to place to put it. It would make more sense residing at the top of the page, but the important thing is that it’s there, and it’s easier than ever to stay up-to-date.

If you live in the United States, you can guess who’s currently populating the feed and will show up more often than not. However, there were a lot of videos about the tragic Barcelona attacks earlier in the day. It’s unknown if its personally curated or done by algorithm.

YouTube could easily become the go-to place for news, as for many people watching a quick video is easier than reading an article, especially since you can have the video playing in the background while you tend to other things. YouTube is already one of the more useful sites on the Internet, now it looks like it’s going to be even better.
