Get Vessyl and Get Smart About Your Liquid Consumption Beth Snyder June 18, 2014 While eating and drinking only packaged items is not at all healthy, it does make it easier to keep track of your consumption and the associated nutrition information. But if you’re trying to be healthy or lose weight, you’re much better off with fresh fruits and vegetables and homemade foods and even beverages. The problem is, how do you keep track of your nutrition intake when that information isn’t printed on everything? And even if it is, beverages are incredibly hard to monitor since you have to precisely measure each glass of whatever you drink. There are gadgets either currently or soon to be on the market that can help, such as the TellSpec Food Scanner or the SCiO, but you still run into the problem of tracking what’s in your beverages. Vessyl wants to be the solution to your problem. Put simply, Vessyl is a smart cup that analyzes the calories in whatever beverage you put inside, in whatever amount you’ve chosen to drink, and tracks it for you. It doesn’t give you full nutrition information, but knowing how many calories are in your favourite beverage can go a long way toward keeping your intake in line with your diet. Vessyl also tracks your hydration and energy levels throughout the day using something called Pryme, and displays on an LED screen whether or not you’re due for something to drink. It also keeps track of your caffeine intake, as well as the timing of said intake to help improve your sleeping patterns. Much of that information is sent to your phone and the accompanying app via Bluetooth 4.0, (compatible with either iOS or Android devices). It can also be used independently of a phone, through its default internal settings. Vessyl is recharged simply by placing it in its saucer (it takes about an hour to charge), then it can be used for 5-7 days without needing another charge depending on usage. It will hold up to 13 ounces (385 ml) of liquid at a time. It is not dishwasher safe, but since it’s made of a nonstick material it usually won’t even need to be actually washed, just rinse it out and you’re good to go. You also shouldn’t freeze or microwave Vessyl, but you can put it in the refrigerator (it’ll also handle hot or cold beverages). After launch, you’ll have to shell out $199.00 US to get one. Shipping is predicted for “early 2015.” I’d love to get my hands on one of these, but I somehow can’t see Santa putting one under my tree this Christmas. Source: TechCrunch Share This With The World!
