Emitips Let You Use Your Phone While Keeping Your Hands Warm Beth Snyder November 26, 2012 As you’re probably aware, there is a huge number of products on the market whose sole function is to allow you to use your touchscreen device in the winter without freezing your fingers off. Mostly, these take the form of gloves (I bought a pair of Isotoner gloves last year that I’ve mostly been pretty happy with), but they can get pretty spendy. And also you are stuck with whatever style and/or colours the gloves come in. Last year I took a look at some Glove Pins that seemed like a pretty darn fine idea, and now there’s another similar product on the market. Emitips can be attached to the fingers of whatever gloves you already own, instead of having to find a pair of touchscreen-conductive gloves you like and that fit, which can sometimes be a challenge (mine, for instance, have thumbs that are easily a half-inch longer than my thumbs, making it difficult to use the conductive pads on them). They come in a set of six, and are attached to your existing pair of gloves with the heat of an iron. Just position them on the fingers you want in the place you want, apply the iron, wait 1 minute for cooling (I’d probably wait more just to be safe), and you’re good to go. The only drawback is that they can’t really be attached to all fabrics due to using an iron; you should test a small unobtrusive area of your gloves before attaching Emitips just to be sure you’re not going to ruin them. If you’re worried about cleaning, they are machine washable and dryable, as long as you don’t use bleach or dryer sheets, or you can hand-wash them, or they can be dry-cleaned. So basically however you normally would clean your gloves. If one of the strips starts to come loose, simply re-apply with an iron. Their performance actually increases with use and wear, so don’t worry about being too careful with them. These will work with pretty much any touchscreen surface, so you’ll never be left out in the cold unable to answer your phone again. These are currently available for the low price of just $9.95 US per set. Source: The Gadgeteer Share This With The World!
