Don’t Let Dead Devices Ruin Your Garden Party Beth Snyder June 9, 2013 This has already happened to me three times this summer, and it’s barely the second week of June. I’m outside, either gardening or reading a book or doing other things in my yard because it’s nice…and my phone dies. Yeah, I could refrain from taking so many pictures or commenting on Facebook so many times (and I’m sure some of my friends wish I would), but that’s how I am. And once the phone dies, I face a dilemma: go without my phone while it sits inside on the charger, or stay inside with it so I can use it. I have to admit, on one of those occasions I ran an extension cord from my garage to my chaise longue so I could stay outside but still have my phone. (Yes, I am aware of how sad that is.) But, I can’t be the only one. Because I’ve seen several gadgets that will charge your devices while still allowing you to enjoy the great outdoors, including the Device-Charging Market Umbrella. This is in a similar vein, but instead of being an umbrella it’s a patio table fitted with solar panels and USB ports. This is the Device Charging Patio Table, and I think I may need one. The entire top of the table is composed of a 30-watt solar panel that can charge a smartphone in 3 1/2 hours (which is pretty comparable to plugging it into a wall, and considerably faster than most solar chargers I’ve seen). It has two USB ports for charging your phone or other devices, as well as two 12V auto DC ports (what we used to call a cigarette lighter) in case you want to charge a laptop or something else that requires a bit more power. There are LED indicator lights on the side to let you know where your power levels are, so you’re not caught unawares. If you have no need to charge anything, the ports can be covered with a sliding panel to protect them from the elements, and the table itself is powder-coated in white for weather resistance. If you think this would be a lovely addition to your outdoor decor, you’ll have to shell out about $300.00 US. Source: Red Ferret Share This With The World!
