DJI’s Mavic series (as well as the Phantom series) have been a staple of the drone scene for some time, now. The company has prided itself on creating drones that strike a good balance between powerful and portable, and the Mavic Air is their latest attempt to create the perfect drone. It boasts a 4K camera, FlightAutonomy 2.0 with Advanced Pilot Assistance Systems, new camera features, and more. It’s powerful. It’s portable. It’s accessible. It’s advanced. It’s a bird. It’s a plane. Wait, what am I talking about again? Here, watch a video.

With the Mavic Air, DJI put all of their focus on the two most pivotal (and some might argue only) aspects:  more effective flight and improved imaging capabilities. Power has always been a trade off for portability and vice versa, and DJI’s goal has always been to make that not the case. Fly for up to 21 minutes. Fly stably in 22 mph winds. Take 12-megapixel still images. Take 32-megapixel panoramic images. The Mavic Air will be available in Onyx Black, Arctic White, and Flame Red. Get the drone, battery, remote controller, carrying case, two pairs of propeller guards and four pairs of propellers, for $1,079 CAD (roughly $869USD). The Mavic Air Fly More Combo includes the drone, three batteries, a remote controller, a travel bag, two pairs of propeller guards, six pairs of propellers, a battery to power bank adapter and battery charging hub, for $1,349 CAD (roughly $1086USD). Pre-orders start shipping on January 28.
