Digital BBQ Tongs Take the Guesswork Out of Grilling Beth Snyder August 23, 2011 For the faint of heart, summer grilling season is starting to draw to an end. Of course, for those of us who endure winter for several months out of the year it is not uncommon to shovel a path to the grill in order to cook. Whichever, you’re familiar with the hassle involved in judging if a piece of meat is done to the desired doneness, right? Unless you’re a chef and can do that neat little trick where you just press on it and know, you’ve probably been either using an instant-read thermometer or cutting into your steak to see the inside. Wouldn’t it be neat if your tongs could tell you when you grab something with them what temperature it is? Now they can! The Parasia International E577BBQ Digital BBQ Tongs have a built-in thermometer which can read your steak’s temperature within five seconds of picking it up. You can even preset it to the desired temperature (there are seven meat types pre-programmed), and it’ll give off an audible alarm when that temperature is reached. They even have an LED flashlight built in, for in case you find yourself cooking in the dark. The best part is they are dishwasher safe, because the LED display can be easily detached for cleaning. These really aren’t even all that expensive at just over $26.00 US, but since they weigh in at 7.5 pounds (I had to read that twice myself…seven pound tongs?!), the shipping is a little spendy.
