Corsair Announces Availability of the Carbide 400R Case James White September 11, 2011 Press Release A while back I posted about the Corsair Carbide series of computer cases shown off at Computex. Well, they have gone through their final revisions and are ready for a new home on your computer desk. The first to be released to market and currently available for an MSRP of $99 US is the Carbide 400R. And the word for today kids is black. It is clear the Carbide 400R is all about function as its style is very understated. So, let’s talk about function. This mid-tower case has 2 USB 3.0 ports, power, reset, firewire, and a light toggle switch for the front panel controls. Also in the front you will find room for two 120mm fans. When you remove the side panel that can house 2 more 120mm or 140mm fans, you will find plenty of room for long GPUs. There is also 6 HDD trays that fit both 3.5″ and 2.5″ drives, 4 5.25 bays, 120mm fan slot in the bottom, and 120mm fan slot in back. The 400R also has the top design to fit with a dual 120mm radiator for liquid cooling. Corsair includes a “pop out” style back panel to make room for wire management from the motherboard tray cutouts. Original stated as being black and grey, the Carbide 400R is now black and black with black wires. The color scheme is now accented by two white LED 120mm fans in the front and a 120mm fan in the back that comes with the case. While this case may never win any style contests, it will be hard to beat it in features and design quality at $99.
