Comic Book Adaptation Powers Coming to PS4 as PSN-Exclusive TV Show

I knew that Brian Michael Bendis’s phenomenal comic series Powers was being adapted into a television show. I also knew that Sony was working on bringing original television shows to the PlayStation Network. What I didn’t know was that Powers was one of the shows headed to PSN.

Powers will reportedly be available to stream through PSN, not unlike how the Netflix and Hulu Plus apps work. There’s currently a lack of details regarding when the show is coming or how much it will cost, but we do know that it’s just one of multiple shows Sony has on the way. Powers will be a PSN exclusive in the US.

I’m a little disappointed. As a big fan of the comic, I was really looking forward to the Powers television series. Being a PSN exclusive could mean a few things. One: while Sony has plenty of money, it may not see the production values that it would from a traditional television studio. Two: Sony has said repeatedly that they’re bringing this content to the PlayStation 4. Does that mean that despite the show being available on PSN, I won’t be able to watch it on my PS3?

My personal gripes aside, it’s an exciting and intriguing development that could change the game in a major way.
