Charge Your Devices Without Missing Your Barbecue with the Device-Charging Market Umbrella

It seems that most of us are permanently attached to our devices, no matter what we’re doing. I’m just as guilty as the next person, unable to resist checking my phone several times a day if I’m away from a computer. Which often leaves me looking for somewhere to charge it, since constantly waking it up and getting online eats the battery like mad. We’re coming up on summertime (or so rumour has it), which means a lot of us are going to be entertaining outdoors again. But then you find yourself either missing your phone because it’s in the house on the charger, or missing your party because you needed to check something while it was charging.

The Device-Charging Market Umbrella has a solution for you. This is not just a standard 9-foot-diameter umbrella such as you would normally find in the center of a patio table. In addition to providing shade, it also blocks up to 98% of the sun’s UV rays and carries a UPF rating of 50+. It comes with an eight-foot aluminum pole which along with its spreaders are powder-coated to stand up to all sorts of weather. The umbrella opens and closes smoothly with a manual crank located on the pole.

That’s all well and good, but it’s the extra feature that makes me want one for my yard. Sewn into the top of the umbrella are four 10? x 4 1/4? solar panels, and on the pole are two USB ports where you can plug in your devices to charge them. It even has a rechargeable 3.7-volt/1000mA backup battery for those days when the sun is hiding behind the clouds. Which means when you’ve been on your phone too many times, you no longer have to run into the house to charge it, you can just plug it right into the umbrella and charge away while you spend time with your friends and family. I think that’s neat.

The umbrella comes only in green and weighs 15 pounds. You can pick one up for $499.95 US, but if you also want a base for it you’re going to have to shell out an additional $199.95 US.
