The Barisieur May Be the Best Alarm Clock Ever Beth Snyder August 10, 2014 Getting up in the morning is hard. Unless you’re one of those freaks of nature that actually enjoys early mornings, that is. Me, I hate it. Getting up before mid-day is a part of my life I could cheerfully do without. Over the years I’ve looked at a number of different alarm clocks in an effort to finally find the one that will guarantee I get up on time, and while I’ve purchased quite a few, none of them have quite done the trick. The Barisieur, however, may be the answer I’ve been seeking. In addition to being an alarm clock, the Barisieur also makes coffee, right there on your night stand. You don’t even have to get out of bed before sucking down your first hit of caffeine! Instead of waking you with a klaxon, it awakens you with the smell of brewing coffee and the lovely sounds of brewing. Instead of being a standard drip coffee maker, the Barisieur uses induction heating to brew your coffee at the appointed time. There are individual compartments for milk, cream or sugar (or whatever you prefer to add to your coffee, if anything), as well as for extra coffee and, of course, water. Just set it up the night before, set your alarm, and wake to the invigorating scent and sound of brewing coffee. The Barisieur isn’t on the market yet, but it’s projected to cost £150-250 ($252.00 – $420.00 US) when it does become available. Granted, that’s pretty steep for either a coffee pot or an alarm clock, but combining the two in an environmentally-friendly bedside appliance really does make it worth the cost.
