Apple Watch Breathes New Life into Tamagotchi Michael Kwan April 28, 2015 News Back in high school, I noticed that a bunch of girls in my class started carrying around these colorful, egg-shaped keychains with tiny pixelated displays on them. Every few minutes, they’d whip the thing out, tap a few buttons, and put the colorful egg back into their pockets or their bags. The 90s were the heyday of the Tamagotchi, a pocket pet that has since fallen into obscurity… except, the little beasts are back on the Apple Watch. It’s still remains to be seen whether the Apple Watch will succeed as a gaming device, but little apps like this perhaps make the most sense. The idea here is that you have a strange blob of a pet and, every few minutes, you need to feed it, play with it, or clean up its poop. At some point, the Tamagotchi dies goes home and you are presented with a new pet. The cycle renews and more poop is picked up. That’s the good news (if you’ll take that as good news). The bad news is that the experience on the Apple Watch is still a little lacking. You can’t play with your pet and there’s no animation to display just how happy or upset the little bugger is. In any case, should you feel so inclined, you can get Tamagotchi Classic for 99 cents in the App Store. You’ll need the accompanying iPhone (or iPad) app in order to have your pocket monster live on your Apple Watch. Via The Verge Share This With The World!
