The Apple iPhone 6 – Hot Enough to Melt Your Skinny Jeans? Stephen Fung September 20, 2014 Yesterday, the Apple iPhone 6 and 6 Plus made it’s debut to all the people standing in line (and those at home that paid those people to stand in line for them). Both new phones, the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, defy common sense according to Apple, but response from the public is pretty overwhelming. People like big phones and they cannot lie. Ask any Samsung Galaxy Note fan. Besides being extremely large (for an iPhone), the latest iDevice has already met its fair share of drop test fails at launch. But that’s not the only potential safety issuewith the phone. We spotted a tweet by Francois Piednoel, which states that the iPhone 6 is also extremely hot. Just downloading a game with a good sleeve on it … Hot! #iPhone6 pic.twitter.com/A5nwDd253C Francois Piednoel (@FPiednoel) September 19, 2014 Piednoel took this shot of the iPhone 6with his infrared heat camera, which showed a temperature of 36.8 C. This wouldn’t be so bad, if it wasn’t emitting this heat THROUGH a “good sleeve” as stated by Piednoel. And this is thephone doing a download only, not running any intensive applications. Although it is unclear whether this is the peak temperature, and there’s no mention of the duration. Aphone can download a number of fairly beefy app updates every day, all by itself, which can be disconcerting if you’ve gone caseless, and indulge skin hugging clothing. Since skin starts to become damaged at 50C, with just 1 min of exposure, I’d hate to imagine how hot the iPhone 6 gets when it’s under load. And without a case to protect yourself from the scalding “ahh-loo-min-nee-um” casing. So if you plan on putting the new iPhone 6 in your skinny jeans, you might wantto pre-stretch that denim for the extra girth of a case. Or you might need a set with NOMEX liners sewn in. Better safe than sorry? Has your Apple iPhone 6 or 6 Plus been too hot to handle? Source: Francois Piednoel on Twitter Share This With The World!
