Apple Creating Ugly Budget iPhone Allan Schroeder July 7, 2013 Apple has long been rumoured to be creating a budget or entry level smartphone for users in emerging markets to launch alongside the rumoured iPhone 5S later this year. Apple has mocked their competitors even as they’ve had success with the business model of selling high end and lower end devices. Samsung has the Galaxy S4 and the S4 Mini amongst others. Earlier in the week, French language blog nowhereelse release numerous photographs showing different coloured iPhones and parts in various states of assembly. The pictures show hideous colours along with a smaller form factor. BGR thinks they need to be ugly on purpose, if solely to prevent consumers from downgrading or to be something that affluent and aspirational consumers despise. These could simply be images of a Chinese knock-off (yes it happens) so we will simply leave you to draw your own conclusions. I’m not sold on the fact that Apple needs a budget iPhone. The iPhone 4 8GB is still available in Canada for $0 on a 3 year contract. I don’t think there’s any reason Apple couldn’t just continue to manufacture the iPhone 4 at greatly reduced costs since it was introduced almost 4 years ago. It’s still stylish, but not new or fast enough to attract those wanting the best and latest greatest. Share This With The World!
