Remember when only high-end luxury vehicles had backup cameras, GPS, Bluetooth and heated seats? These features have all trickled their way down to more affordable cars and the exact same thing happens in the smartphone world too. What’s that? You think you need to invest in a top-tier flagship to get dual cameras? ZTE scoffs at that idea, shoving a dual camera configuration in the new ZTE Blade Z Max. The kicker? The phone only costs $129.

I’ve been using the ZTE Axon Pro as my daily driver for about a year now and I use the ZTE Axon 7 Mini as my travel phone. They’ve been terrific. Even when you work down the line to the more budget-friendly ZTE Grand X family, you get great bang for your buck.

The ZTE Blade Z Max continues in that tradition of offering an “affordable premium” experience. It’s not going to wow anyone and it likely won’t win any awards, but it does push the envelope in terms of how much phone you can get for under $130. It wasn’t that long ago that this would be the “on contract” price for a device like this.

Set to launch through MetroPCS, the Blade Z Max is powered by a Snapdragon MSM8940 processor, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of storage (expandable to 128GB), a 6-inch full HD display, Android Nougat, and USB-C connectivity. The dual camera rig consists of a 16MP main shooter in full color with a 2MP monochrome camera next to it, presumably for improved focus. On the front is a 8MP selfie cam.

Two other features of particular note are the extra large 4,080mAh battery and the rear fingerprint sensor. Fingerprint readers are becoming a fairly standard feature across all price points, but that big battery should keep you moving along without any worries about running out of juice.

The ZTE Blade Z Max isn’t listed on the MetroPCS website as of this writing, but it should show up there soon. Pick one up for $129.
