As part of the proceedings between Apple and Samsung at the moment, Scott Forstall’s testimony brought in some emails into evidence. Those emails came by Apple VP Eddy Cue and he was talking specifically about the Samsung Galaxy Tab. This was back in January 2011 and he said that “there will be a 7-inch market and we should do one.” The kicker? He “expressed this to Steve several times since Thanksgiving and he seemed very receptive the last time.”
Yes, Steve Jobs was “very receptive” to the idea of a 7-inch iPad, in stark contrast to earlier reports that he said Apple would never do it. What does this mean? When and if the so-called 7.85-inch iPad mini hits the market later this year, Steve Jobs might not actually roll over in his grave. And Apple could roll around in an increasingly large tub of cash.
