When “Fair” Really Means “Unfair” Beth Snyder January 22, 2010 As we all know by now, I’ve been on crutches for nearly three months, which means the only aspect of my job I can actually do is hockey games. There are several folks trained to do what I do for games, but I have second-highest seniority (each game requires two people). We are now rotating through the ones under me so they don’t lose their training, because it wouldn’t be fair to them if they had to do a game and were rusty. Which is great…except for the part where they all have other means of income, and I rely so heavily on the tiny net pay from each game it’s pathetic. But, yet again tonight for the second time in a week someone else is doing the job while I sit home.
