Just as the OnePlus 3T served as a minor but necessary update to the OnePlus 3, we’re expecting much the same with the OnePlus 5T. It’ll follow the OnePlus 5, offering a bigger screen in the device that’s about the same size. The kicker is that it could be exclusive to Amazon… but that might only be true in India.

Upcoming OnePlus 5T Is Amazon Exclusive?

Amazon is the official retailer for OnePlus in India, so it makes sense that they’d position the phone that way in that market. It would be hard to imagine Amazon scooped up the global exclusive, but we’ll find out for certain in a couple of weeks.

The upcoming OnePlus 5T ticks all the boxes and is doing what all the cool kids are doing with flagship smartphones in 2017? Want slimmer bezels to accommodate a larger phone in the same-sized footprint? Yup, it does that. Want to stretch out that display so that it’s got a taller 18:9 aspect ratio (2:1, if you like the maths)? Yup, it’s got that too. Want to load up on performance with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset? Yeah, it does that too.

Really, as you make your way down the rumored spec sheet, the OnePlus 5T sounds a lot like so many other big phones that have come out this year. It’s got (at least) 6GB of RAM, at least an option for 128GB of internal storage, and it’s even doing the dual camera thing on the back with a pair of 20-megapixel sensors. And yes, it’s got a fingerprint reader on the back too — just like the Pixel 2 XL — though it’s unclear whether it’ll be above or below the OnePlus logo.

Yes, some phones with the big displays are rocking 1440 pixels across the horizontal. OnePlus cut a bit of a corner here with an extended FHD display, getting an resolution of 2160 x 1080 on its 6-inch screen. Based on a recent tweet from OnePlus co-founder Pete Lau, that panel is likely coming by way of Samsung. He says “Samsung’s display technology is currently the best for Optic AMOLED.”

This all aligns with what we’ve mostly been expecting. The price is roughly in line with what we expect too. A pre-order listing on OppoMart shows a price of $549 for the 64GB and $649 for the 128GB version. Expect Android 7.1.1 with Oxygen OS at launch with an Oreo update to follow shortly thereafter. With the India event scheduled for November 16, the global event should happen on the 14th or 15th. Stay tuned!
