Well, it turns out the surgery I actually need is far more involved and has a much lengthier healing process than the one the last doctor thought I needed. It’s still outpatient, and the actual surgery shouldn’t take more than an hour or so, but I’ll be off work for at least three months, probably more like five. Guess while I’m getting ready for the surgery I should also take inventory of the things I own that I can sell, since there is no such thing as paid time off in my industry. I think I might be eligible for unemployment, though, since technically I’ll be on restriction rather than unavailable…I’ll have to look into that. Even the pittance unemployment offers is better than absolutely nothing.
