Huggies TweetPee – Yes, This is a Real Product Beth Snyder May 12, 2013 Extras Here’s another one from the “Surely you can’t be serious” files. I am serious, and don’t call me Shirley. To be honest, before I decided to write about this one I looked it up on multiple sites, because I was confident someone was playing a joke and I’d have to post a retraction. But no. This actually exists, albeit not as an actual product available to customers (there’s a video, but it’s only in Portuguese). If I shake my head any harder, I’m probably going to send my glasses flying. So here’s the deal. TweetPee, as you can probably guess from the picture, sends you an alert on your iPhone when your baby has wet its diaper, which means you no longer have to be an attentive parent in that regard. That’s how I look at it; possibly others do not. But really, the idea is that parents no longer have to actually pay attention to the state of their child’s diaper, but rather can depend on a gadget to let them know. The app (which is available, apparently), is designed “to let parents get a sense of how often their child urinates”. You know, in case actually parenting is entirely too hard for you. The app will also keep track of how many diapers you’ve used, and let you know when you’re getting low. Again, in case paying attention is too hard for you. As I said, the little bird-shaped sensor to attach to the diaper isn’t actually available, but from what I’ve been able to gather, the app is. I’m not entirely sure how much good the app would be without an accompanying sensor, but there you have it. If you’re a lazy parent who can’t seem to grasp changing your child’s diaper in a timely fashion, this might just be for you. I’ll just go with the paying attention method…it’s worked for centuries.
