The News: Thursday, November 15 Edition

Where I live, today is opening day of firearm deer season. Which means the usual camouflage and blaze orange everywhere, men growing their beards out, women moaning about being “deer widows”, and the hope that some kind soul will see fit to gift me some venison this year. I’ve never hunted, but my dad used to from when he was a kid right up until his Parkinson’s got so bad it became dangerous, so I’ve got tons of ways to make venison. Most particularly, I’m hoping to get to make chili this year. I should make a deal with one of my hunter friends…if they give me the meat, I’ll make them dinner. Seems like a fair trade to me.
