The News: Monday, February 18 Edition Beth Snyder February 18, 2013 Here’s a thing I just spent about 15 minutes fixing…the top of my laptop has started getting wobbly when it’s open, as if there was a screw loose somewhere. Except as we know they aren’t like door hinges, where you can see screws and fix them. When I closed it last night, it had a little play in it, but still went into sleep mode so I just went to bed. This morning I noticed one of the back corners was coming apart…like the case was separated. Turns out there was a screw loose! Two of them, in fact. It wasn’t as simple as just tightening the screws, though, since it’s a pressure point every time it’s opened or closed. And while I’m good with getting into a desktop tower and playing around until it’s fixed, I’m a little leery of laptops. But, I’ve mostly got it done. The screen is stable once again, and what used to be almost a 1/4-inch gap when it’s closed is down to about 1/16th inch. Which is the best I can do on my own. But now I’m saving for a new one, because it’s only a matter of time. Happy Monday!
