It finally happened. A good friend has two boys in college (one a sophomore, the other a junior) who play lacrosse. I sort of got into it last year because he very much is, and he assured me I would like it. I do. I really, really do. Their university moved from Division II to Division I this year, and entered the season ranked #17. They’ve played three games so far, one against a horrible team, one against a halfway decent team, and one last evening against the team that entered the season ranked #1. They beat them all. I’m sure it helps that they’re not only my friend’s kids but that they’re also continuing their top-notch play (they win more often than not, and were national champions two years ago), but I’m really into this silly game. And now it makes perfect sense that when he was explaining it to me he said it was like a cross between hockey and soccer with some elements thrown in that make no sense whatsoever until you start paying attention. So…off to a good start on this long road trip, boys! Nicely done.
