Admittedly, I’m pretty late to the whole Snapchat game. I wrote it off as just another place for teens to sext each other with the (incorrect) assumption that any questionable content would disappear into the ether after a single viewing. As it turns out, Snapchat can be kind of fun. The Face Swap filter/lens is particularly funny (and disturbing), but you need an actual person next to you to do it… at least you used to. Snapchat has now rolled out a new feature to make the Face Swap a heck of a lot easier.

Rather than having to stand right next to your friend (or Cabbage Patch Doll), you can do the Face Swap with any picture in your phone’s camera roll. Snapchat will automatically sift through the images you have on your phone to look for ones that it thinks contains a face and the swapping of the faces works the same way as it did before.

As a refresher, what you need to do is switch around to the selfie camera, tap and hold on your face to bring up the lenses, scroll on over to the new camera roll Face Swap (which is next to the original one), and scroll over to the image you want to do with the swapping with.

You can see this in action in a Gizmodo post where the (female) blogger swaps her face with everyone from Jeb Bush to William H. Macy. What’s weird is the face detection isn’t perfect, so she was also able to swap her face with a can of Corona and the abs of some guy he found on Tinder.

The new Snapchat update is rolling out to both the iOS and Android versions of the app. While you’re at it, go ahead and follow me on there too. I’m @MichaelKwanBTR, because someone already squatted on @MichaelKwan before I signed on. Damn Millennials!
