Like most kids of the 1970’s, I was fascinated by Sea Monkeys, magic rocks, and ant farms. Not that I was ever allowed to have any of them…we didn’t have the extra money for stuff like that. Which means as soon as I started making money of my own, my first purchase was Sea Monkeys. In fact, to this day it is a default present when I can’t think of anything else, and it never fails to bring amusement. My only bad experience with sea monkeys was a few years back when I was dating a guy who worked in the aquarium at our local zoo. I went to visit him one day, and it was time to feed the baby jellyfish. Which apparently eat brine shrimp. It was really neat making them by the five-gallon pail until I realized they were the entree. But anyway…happy Sea Monkey Day!
