RagLite Fabric-Mounted LED Light Banks Are Really Flexible Michael Kwan May 23, 2014 One thing that I’ve learned very quickly from the world of photography and videography is that lighting can make all the difference. That being said, most of the traditional lamps that you see in photography studios are inherently very bulky, making them difficult to arrange when you have a smaller space. Incandescent bulbs also get really hot. Addressing all of these concerns is a wonderfully innovative product called the RagLite and it’s a flexible, fabric-mounted LED lighting system that you can put just about anywhere. Developed by Chad Soderholm and engineered by Sin Cohen, RagLite is exactly what it sounds like. You get a piece of fabric of varying size and a series of flexible LED light strips have been mounted to it. What this means is that you can place this light source just about anywhere and it’s really flexible. They’ve also worked to make sure it can be extra tough, because its waterproof too. There’s no heat, there’s a module mounting system for D-rings and the like, and it’s incredibly lightweight. When you’re ready to hit the road, you can literally roll up the sheet of light and take it with you. I can see how something like this would be great for our own studio, like what we did with the SteelSeries Stratus video review a while back, because we were fighting with ways to get the lighting just right. There are four different versions of the RagLite, including the filmmaking-centric RageLite Cine, which comes in 3200K tungsten and 5600k daylight. There’s also the RagLite grow for home gardening, RagLite Mini for extra portability, and RagLite Rugged for particularly tough environments. There’s even a RagLite RGB for all sorts of colored lighting. Check out the video below and their Kickstarter page for more information. A minimum pledge of $75 will nab you a RagLite Mini, ramping up to $1,750 to get the full-sized RagLite Cine. Via Slashgear Share This With The World!
