Programmable Pet Feeder Prevents Pudgy Pooches Beth Snyder September 23, 2013 It’s no secret that people are getting progressively heavier, but a lot of people tend to overfeed their pets as well as themselves. We all know being overweight isn’t healthy for us, but it can actually be even worse on a dog. They already have a considerably shorter lifespan and a much smaller physique, so carrying around even just a few extra pounds can be quite hazardous to their health. Animal Planet knows this, and has come up with something that can help you get your four-legged best friend back to his formerly svelte self. This is the Animal Planet Programmable Pet Feeder, and it pretty much works how you’d think it would. First, you fill the hopper with up to 10 pounds of dry food, then using the LCD control panel you set how much food should come out and how often, up to three times a day. It’s battery operated (3 D size batteries, not included), so no worries about Fido accidentally unplugging it while trying to get at that last morsel of kibble. If you’d rather, it can be used with a 4.5 volt AC adapter (also not included). All its main components are removable for easy cleaning. Not only would this be good for making sure your pet doesn’t get too much food, it would end the worries about feeding him when you’re going to be late getting home from work, or even if you were going to be gone overnight (although it does not solve the problem of letting your dog outside to do his business after eating). Since it measures just 19 x 11 x 17 inches and weighs just four pounds, it’s easy to travel if you take your pet on the road. If you’d like one, they’re available now for just $39.99 US.
