Pebble Smartwatch Retails at Best Buy for $149 Michael Kwan July 4, 2013 You could say that the Pebble really kickstarted this whole smartwatch phenomenon with its hugely successful crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter. While early backers were able to save $30 off the regular price of the smartwatch, the rest of us will soon be able to go to the local Best Buy to get a Pebble of our own for $149. The Pebble smartwatch will be hitting both the physical and the digital shelves of Best Buy on July 7. The deal is for American stores only at this point, so us Canadians are left out in the (summer) cold unless we make the trek across the border to get one. From what I hear, they’ll only be selling the Jet Black version, so we’ll have to sit tight if we want to have any hopes of picking up the other colors. This is an exclusive retail launch, so you won’t find the Pebble sold anywhere else. That said, maybe sitting tight isn’t such a bad idea. The iOS and Android compatible Pebble is nice and all, but it certainly is not without its faults. With the Sony SmartWatch 2 set for launch in September and the rumored Apple iWatch right around the corner, consumers may soon have a lot more options to satiate their wrist-strapped computing needs.
