Over 2.5 Million Downloads of Temple Run on Christmas Day Michael Kwan December 27, 2012 Are you one of the lucky people who received a Samsung Galaxy Note II, iPod touch or Kindle Fire HD for Christmas? If so, there’s a good chance that one of the first apps you downloaded on your new device was Temple Run. And you weren’t alone. Developed by Imangi Studios, Temple Run has somehow become one of those quiet casual games that isn’t all that quiet anymore. On Christmas Day, the app was downloaded more than one million times through the app store for iOS devices, more than one million times through the Google Play Store for Android devices, and an additional 500,000 times through the Amazon Appstore. That’s over 2.5 million downlaods in a 24-hour span. It probably helps that this game is free on all platforms too. No, Temple Run doesn’t have that widespread mainstream ubiquity that the Angry Birds franchise might enjoy, but the Indiana Jones-style frantic running away with prize in hand gameplay is pretty damn addicting. Congrats to Imangi founder Keith Shepherd. We look forward to your next (free) hit. Via Keith Shepherd Twitter Share This With The World!
