Nintendo Announces 3DS XL Dylan Duarte June 25, 2012 Much like they did with the DSi, Nintendo plans to release a supersized version of their Nintendo 3DS, dubbed the 3DS XL. The 3D top screen measures 4.88-inches and the bottom 4.18-inches, compared to the 3.53-inch and 3.02-inch screens on the normal model. With each screen being over an inch bigger, that’s a pretty hefty difference. The top panel will run at 240 x 800 resolution and the lower screen will run at 240 x 320, just like the handheld’s predecessor. There are also some color changes and some color redesigns. Much to fans’ displeasure, there’s still no second joystick. In Japan, where it goes by the name 3DS LL, it will release on July 28. Those in the US can get their hands on one on August 19th for $199.99 and can choose from red or blue. The handheld will also ship with a 4GB SD card in the box. via Slash Gear Share This With The World!
