Microsoft Surface Phone Rumors Surface Once Again Dylan Duarte November 2, 2012 With Microsoft Surface, Microsoft is looking to give Apple’s iPad a run for its money, but it looks like they might not stop there. Despite the recent release of the Windows Phone 8, Microsoft’s latest mobile operating system, reports are coming in that Microsoft is looking to enter the mobile game even further by developing their own hardware. According to the Wall Street Journal, Microsoft’s Asian suppliers are helping them test an in-house smartphone design. WSJ’s sources don’t know if that smartphone is intended for mass production, but rumors that Microsoft wants to release a handset in 2013 certainly help build upon that theory. Back in June, Microsoft’s senior Windows Phone marketing manager denied any plans Microsoft supposedly had of developing their own smartphone, but since then the company has adopted more of a “no comment” stance. Days after the initial rumor hit, CEO Steve Ballmer wrote his annual letter to shareholders in which he referenced the Xbox and Microsoft Surface as examples of Microsoft building their own hardware for their own purposes. This is all still up in the air, but it’s crazy to assume that something is going on at Microsoft. via Laptop Mag Share This With The World!
