Lost Your iPhone? Just Yell, “Marco!” Beth Snyder May 26, 2014 Pretty much the only time I ever use the landline in my house is when I can’t find my phone. I assume I’m not the only one, because if I was there wouldn’t be a whole industry dedicated to helping us keep track of our mobile devices. But what if you don’t have a landline handy, or no one is around who can call it for you? You’re left tearing your house apart, hoping to remember at least what room you were in the last time you had it. That really never ends well. Enter Marco Polo. Not the Italian merchant, but kind of like that game we all played in the pool when we were kids. This is an app that runs in the background on your iPhone, just hanging out doing nothing, until such a time as you lose your phone. Then, upon your yelling, “Marco!”, it leaps into action, and responds with “Polo!” As with the game, just keep yelling and listening for the response until you find your phone. If nothing else, it seems like a whole lot of fun. I can’t tell you how many times at work I’ve been trying to find someone and have started yelling, “Marco!” It’s even better if they answer. If you’re no fun (or maybe more fun than I can imagine), you can program the Marco Polo app to respond with a different name. To make that less silly, you can also program a different input name. But really, why wouldn’t you just leave it as it is? Unless you work with people like I do, who would yell randomly just to see if it would answer and get me in trouble because it will respond even if your phone is in silent mode. Marco Polo costs $1.00 US, and is only available for iPhone through the App Store on iTunes. Which makes me sad… I would totally pay for this if I could have it on my Android. Anyway, it requires iOS 7.0 or later, is compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch, and is optimized for iPhone 5. Source: Geekologie Share This With The World!
