iPhone XC with 6.1-Inch LCD for Budget Users? Michael Kwan September 10, 2018 News Ever since Apple announced the iPhone X last year, we’ve been wondering what the next iPhone would be called. Is it the iPhone 11? The iPhone X2? Well, we’re right around the corner from the next generation and it looks like in addition to the iPhone XS, we could be getting an iPhone XC as well. As you may have heard through the usual rumblings over the Internet, current reports are pointing toward an iPhone XS. That’d be the direct successor to the current iPhone X and would follow the usual “S” pattern that Apple has used in previous iPhone generations. You know that whole “tick-tock” release schedule they use, right? Even so, I find the iPhone XS name to be a little curious, as many people will read that to mean extra small… even though it’s rumored to have a 5.8-inch OLED display. That’s hardly small. And then there’s a “Plus” version of that phone that could either be called the iPhone XS Plus or the iPhone XS Max with a 6.5-inch OLED screen. Because “extra small max” makes total logical sense. These flagships are expected to get top-tier specs, of course, including 4GB of RAM, 3D Touch, and Qi wireless charging. But then we’ve also got the iPhone XC coming too, apparently. As leaked by @VenyaGeskin1 (Ben Geskin) on Twitter, the entry level offering will reportedly be called the Apple iPhone XC. The OLED screen gets ditched in favor of a cheaper 6.1-inch LCD screen. Just like the iPhone 5c, this is meant to be more budget-friendly. Rumors are saying that the iPhone XC will also lose wireless charging and 3D Touch. It’ll also downgrade to just 3GB of RAM. But hey, the notch will probably still be there, I guess? If these leaked images are to be believed, we can also expect red, white and blue variants, as well as what appears to be a light pink (rose?), all with single camera modules on their glass (or plastic?) backs. What do you think? There’s definitely a market for a more affordable iPhone variant, but is going with the larger 6.4-inch LCD the right way to go?
