Google has purchased portions of Green Throttle Games in an effort to incorporate gaming into their upcoming set-top TV box. It’s unknown exactly how much Google paid for its parts of the company, but Google has confirmed that the deal happened. Two of the three founders of Green Throttle Games will be working with Google.

Green Throttle Games is known for their Android-based Atlas gaming controller, which seems like the perfect choice if Google is looking to bring gaming to their living room box.

This isn’t Google’s first attempt to get something into the living room, but neither the Nexus Q media player nor Google TV fared very well. The Chromecast dongle is doing better, but that’s a far cry from an actual set-top box. Maybe Google and Green Throttle Games together can make it happen.
