The deals just keep getting better and better… just in time for Valentine’s Day to boot. If you’ve been itching to get your hands on the newest vanilla Android experience complete with the Nexus Imprint fingerprint reaader, you’re in luck. The LG-made Google Nexus 5X has now been discounted down to $299.00. That’s an extra $50 price drop for those of you keeping score at home.

You might remember now that long ago when Google decided to knock the price of the Nexus 5X down by about thirty bucks down to $349 for the 16GB model and $399 for the 32GB model. That has now been further reduced and, from what we can gather, this may or may not be a permanent discount. With this price cut, buying the phone in the States is once again cheaper than buying it in Canada thanks to the glory of the plummeting Canadian dollar.

At $299 US, that works out to about $420 Canadian. By comparison, the Canadian version of the Google Store still has the 16GB Nexus 5X listed as $389.

That’s why it makes a lot more sense now to find the Nexus 5X on Amazon.com instead. You get free shipping and a cheaper price. The 16GB and 32GB versions are $299 and $349, respectively. That’s the good news. The bad news is that the 16GB model in mint is back-ordered for 2 to 5 weeks and the discount has not yet been applied to the 16GB black version or the 32GB white version… but it has been applied to the 32GB black version and the 16GB white version. Go figure. You do get the full US warranty either way.
