Are you sitting at home, sad that you couldn’t make it to San Diego Comic-Con this year? Marvel is looking to ease your pain. For a limited time you can sign up for Marvel Unlimited, their digital subscription service that gives you access to over 13,000 comics, for just 99 cents. It’s usually either $10 a month, $69 a year, or $99 for a yearly subscription with some added bonuses. Right now, however, it’s just a cent under a buck.

Marvel did something similar while SXSW was happening in Austin. You guys know how this works. You subscribe for 99 cents, but if you don’t cancel in time, you’ll be charged the normal rate for the next month. No big deal! Just read over 13,000 comics in 30 days and you don’t have to pay any more money! You’ll sure show them!

I’ve been a comic book fan my entire life, but you don’t need me to tell you that this is an awesome deal. If you’re not familiar with comics, be aware that with over 13,000 to read, there’s going to be a lot of stinkers. As a general rule, you might want to avoid anything from the 90s. And you might not want to subscribe hoping to read a specific arc, because there’s a good deal missing. Still, with all that said, that’s a lot of comic books and there’s more than enough good stuff in there to justify the normal subscription price, let alone 99 cents.

To get the promotion, sign up for the service and use the promo code SDCC14. I’d happily confirm that it works, but the Marvel Unlimited website is absolutely crawling right now, no doubt getting hammered by those looking for cheap comics.
