In my review of the Galaxy S5 earlier this month, I said that Samsung’s latest flagship is more of an incremental evolution of the line than it is a truly revolutionary product. Apparently, Samsung knows this and that’s why they’re preparing an even more powerful smartphone in the Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime.

Listed as the SM-G906S in the Samsung Find My Mobile Tracker, the Galaxy S5 Prime will reportedly get a slightly larger 5.2-inch display with a QHD 2560 x 1440 resolution. Remember than the existing S5 only has a full HD 1920 x 1080 display, something that we’ve already come to expect from last year’s flagships. This jump to 2K would better position the Galaxy S5 Prime against what could be coming out from competitors in the next little while.

Aside from shoving more pixels on the screen, the Galaxy S5 Prime will reportedly also have a 2.5GHz Snapdragon 805 processor, 16MP camera, 32GB internal storage and 3GB of RAM. Presumably, it’ll still get the IP67 certification, heart rate monitor, fingerprint scanner, and other features that we see on the S5. The current rumor is pointing toward a launch as early as June, so we’ll keep our ears to the ground for more as this story develops.
