Well it has been a while since we done something that is mainly for the DIY people out there. I don’t mean people like me that build their own regular old PCs. I am talking about those of us that like to put a full PC system inside of something unique like an old Nintendo console or router case… or maybe you just need an all-in-one solution in a small space. ECS is here to help you with those needs with the Thin Mini-ITX motherboard lineup.

The new ECS AIO (All-In-One) motherboards are the H61H2-TI, H61H2-G11 and CDC-TI. We will be talking about the CDC-TI and the H61H2-TI boards for now. These boards are not only designed to be small in size, but short in height as well. Using motherboard standards from laptops you will find the memory slots are 204-pin DDR3 SO-DIMM laid on their side. This trend also applies to the 2 Mini-PCIe (1 Full/1 Half) which are also 90º tilted. This means even if you install RAM, Wi-Fi chip, HD media accelerator and/or Mini-PCIe SSD, the overall height of the board will not charge.

Lets get into more specifics with the CDC-TI, which has an embedded Intel Atom D2700/D2550/D2500 dual-core processor. It uses only passive cooling as these chips are designed for sub 10W operation. The board itself has  2 x SATA 3Gb/s, 2 x USB 2.0, 2 Mini-PCIe (1 Full/ 1 Half), VGA, HDMI, up to 4 GB of DDR3 RAM support, and LVDS support. Also using the laptop external power standard, you could place all this into an area smaller than the size of your average best selling novel.

The next board we will look at is the ECS H61H2-TI which takes it up a notch or three. This board is fitted with an H61 chipset and socket LGA 1155 to support Intel 2nd and 3rd generation Core processors. The ECS H61H2-TI also supports up to 16 GB of DD3 RAM with its two 204-pin slots. The other connectivity options are the same as the CDC-TI but with 1 x mSATA and HDMI support as well. You will your own cooler this time around though.

I personally would like build a new HTPC with a board like the ECS H61H2-TI. I could limit the size to something no bigger than a cable tuner box, but still have plenty of versatility for storage space. Or I could build a small home media server no bigger than a shoe box with up to 12 TB of storage. If you haven’t come up with at least two DIY projects for these small but versatile boards, then you are neglecting your hobby.

Elitegroup Computer Systems (ECS), the world’s leading motherboard, graphics card, barebone system, notebook and mobile device manufacturer announces a variety of options of Thin Mini-ITX for users to meet their different demands with AIO (All-In-One) and motherboards. To target different segments, ECS Thin Mini-ITX motherboards are not only compatible with AIO but also with small form factor PCs, offering a wide range of solutions including H61H2-TI, H61H2-G11 and CDC-TI. With the growth in popularity of AIO, acceptance of the Thin Mini-ITX platform proves to be leading standard of this new trend, allowing for future-proof upgradeability.

The brand new CDC-TI Thin Mini-ITX motherboard supports Intel® Atom™ D2700/D2550/D2500 Dual-core processors. The CPU and Memory are supported 100% by Solid Capacitors in order to provide better conductivity and longevity. CDC-TI features 2 x DDR3 SO-DIMM socket supporting up to 4GB, 2 x SATA 3Gb/s, 2 x USB 2.0, 2 Mini-PCIe (1 Full/ 1 Half), VGA, HDMI and LVDS support. It is distinguished by its fan-less design because of the lowest CPU power consumption of <10W TDP. ECS CDC-TI not only works well for Thin Mini-ITX AIOs but also for other form factors that can take advantage of a low-profile board.

The other H61H2-TI Thin Mini-ITX motherboard can support socket LGA1155 Intel® 2nd and 3rd Generation CoreTM processors. It features Intel® H61 Express chipset with SATA 3Gb/s, 2 x DDR3 SO-DIMM socket up to 16GB, 2 x USB 3.0, 2 Mini-PCIe (1 Full/ 1 Half), 1 x mSATA, and HDMI input/output that deliver you an excellent performance and amazing experience.
