coffee

I’m a big fan of coffee. I’m also a big fan of subscription-based services if only because I’m extremely lazy and it takes zero effort to let something automatically renewal. It’s too bad I don’t live in New York City, because then I’d get to experience an amazing merger of the two.

A new app called Cups allows you to pay a monthly free to get unlimited coffee and tea from dozens of independent coffee shops around New York City. The basic unlimited subscription price seems to be $45 a month while adding espresso (and Americano, cappuccino, latte, etc) to the mix bumps it up to $85 a month. The only catch is that you must wait 30 minutes between cups but that still allows you to drink way too much coffee in one day.

Cups allows independent coffee shops to form a united front against big franchises like Starbucks and Dunkin’ Donuts. The app actually launched in Israel a couple years ago to moderate success. The service also offers fixed-limit packages that are more affordable than the unlimited packages.
