Can eyeIO Lower Streaming Video Bandwidth Usage? Dylan Duarte February 7, 2012 Palo Alto-based startup eyeIO is teaming up with Netflix to help lower the bandwidth used by streaming high quality video. This has been a rising problem for a while now. With movies, music, television, and even eBooks, streaming and downloading content is becoming more and more common. Unfortunately, this clashes with the ever-increasing bandwidth restrictions that ISPs are putting into place – a concern that eyeIO is hoping to ease. Anybody who reads my work on MEGA Tech News probably knows that I’m a huge Netflix proponent. And one of the (only) benefits of living in the small town that I get decent Internet with no bandwidth restrictions. I can’t imagine what it would be like to have my Netflix subscription hampered by an overly-strict ISP and hopefully I’ll never have to know. As eyeIO’s technology is deployed in the cloud, which is nothing short of magical to me, we should start seeing the same high quality we’re used to with lower bandwidth usage. via Hot Hardware Share This With The World!
