keylink

I like to call them the Holy Trinity of Necessities. Any time I leave the house, I make sure I have three main items with me: my phone, my keys and my wallet. After I pick up my keys and wallet, maybe I can’t seem to find my phone. Some of us may try to call our own phones from another device, but the Motorola Keylink is a much more convenient little device.

While it doesn’t reinvent the wheel or do your taxes for you, the Motorola Keylink is quite handy. Basically, it’s a rounded triangle of a pendant that you attach to your keychain. If you can’t find your phone, you simply hit the single button on the Keylink and your phone will start ringing from up to 100 feet away. If you get your smartphone–the Keylink is compatible with both iOS 7.1+ and Android 4.3+ devices–stuck between the cushions on the sofa again, you’ll be able to find it.

Conversely, if you have your smartphone in hand and you can’t find your keys, the corresponding Motorola Connect app (through the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store) can be used to make the Keylink ring instead. And if you’re using Android 5.0, you can add the Keylink to your list of trusted devices to bypass the password screen on your phone. Unlike a smartwatch, however, the Keylink has a battery that’ll last up to a year and you simply replace it with a regular coin cell battery.

If your smartphone is more than 100 feet away, the Keylink won’t be as useful and you may need to use the Android Device Manager to find your phone. The Motorola Keylink is available now from Motorola.com and T-Mobile for $24.99.
