Cabin iPhone Charger Adds MagSafe to Lightning Dylan Duarte July 17, 2014 Cords?! Who uses cords anymore? Contact charging is the way to go and the Shenzhen, China-based Hevo Labs have come up with a really convenient way to charge your iPhone on the go. The Cabin is a portable battery that your iPhone can magnetically snap via the Lightning port into for efficient, unobtrusive charging. Yes, magnetic, like how Apple’s MagSafe is magnetic, except here you get a MicroAdapter to convert the Lightning port. There’s also a MagAdapter for your existing Lightning cable to get it all to magnetically work together. The Cabin is really slim too, which gives it a real leg up over those bulky extended batteries when you’re looking for extra power. In an effort to keep it as small as possible, the Cabin doesn’t wrap around the phone and is simply a backing and a bottom. And since it’s designed for the iPhone, its aesthetics complement those of Apple’s device. Of course, none of this matters if the Cabin doesn’t do its job well, but according to Hevo Labs, the Cabin’s 2200mAh battery extends the iPhone’s battery life by 130% and has the same charging efficiency as the Lightning cable. When you’re not on the go, the Cabin Dock can charge both the iPhone and the Cabin while synchronizing data with a computer (if connected). As of this writing, the Cabin Kickstarter has met half of its goal and still has 42 days to go. A pledge of $89 will secure you a Cabin battery and $135 will get you a battery and a dock. The estimated delivery of both of these items is November 2014. Share This With The World!
