Antec Launches Exceptionally Cool Hard Drive Enclosure

MX-1 is a high performance portable hard drive enclosure with advanced active cooling and ultra-quiet operation.

MX-1 is equipped to continuously operate with a blower fan that directs air from the top vents and channels it around the hard drive (HDD) for maximum cooling to prevent overheating and protect data. This improves on less advanced systems by funnelling cool air around the hard drive as opposed to customary fans that blow air without strategic paths. The channelled air keeps the hard drive up to 15 degrees Celsius cooler, improving the hard drive’s stability and increasing its long-term reliability.

MX-1’s Quiet Computing(TM) features isolate drive vibrations with a base fitted with silicone grommets. Also, dual-layer plastic and aluminum upper and lower panels absorb and deaden hard drive and fan noise.

MX-1 can be fitted with most high performance hard drives. It is USB2.0 or eSata compatible, which allows data transfer up to 480 Mbps or 3Gbps respectively. It supports up to 750G SATA hard disk drives and is able to support Windows 2000 / XP / ME / VISTA(TM). MX-1 is capable of redundant array of independent disks (RAID) with a motherboard or RAID controller cards, and includes an eSATA bracket that converts internal SATA to eSATA.
